sunday blessings

Posted on

May you rise each day with a voice of blessing
whispering in your heart that something good is going to happen to you.
May your angel free you from the prisons of guilt, fear, disappointment, and despair.
May there be kindness in your gaze when you look within.

Lines from “Prisons we choose to live in.” In: O’Donohue, J. (1999).
Eternal echoes: Celtic reflections on your yearning to belong. New York: HarperPerennial, p. 143.

  1. a post from Anais:

“… you quoted … John O’Donahue’s book, Eternal Echoes. I just began reading that very book two days ago! I’m enjoying it very much as I love John O’Donahue’s poetic, flowing language. I find his words very soothing, and his messages profound and moving. Looks like you and I are on the same page today. Blessings to you, Peter.”

  2. Ah. an O’Donohue piece. He has a wonderfully enchanting way with words.

My favorite lines of his are from “Blessing”

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
    And so may a slow
    wind work these words
    of love around you,
    an invisible cloak
    to mind your life.

  3. Wow, thanks Nicole! That’s really wonderful and touching.
