Responding to requests and putting aside my hesitations, I intend to host a meditation group in my home. I don’t hold formal qualifications as a Zen/meditation teacher but will bring the lived experience of ten years as a lay monk dedicated to be of service to all beings (see also about yr host at the top of the page).
We’ll have a quiet room with sitting mats (Jap. zabutan), round cushions (zafu), and meditation benches and upright chairs, all suitable for anyone to sit for two consecutive 25-minute periods. We’ll complement our sittings by readings from contemporary Zen texts or listening to recorded talks by recognized teachers. All this would last 90 minutes.
To get started, I propose two initial sitting after which I’ll ask you to commit to come once a month for six months starting in January. So please come on Sunday, November 15 and/or 22, at 9 am. Beginners are welcome, in fact preferred
.
Kindly come 5 minutes early, dressed in loose-fitting clothing in subdued colours, ready to sit with bare feet and head uncovered; leave strong scents and flashy jewellery at home. If you’re interested, kindly write to me at renner-at-gulfislands.com (replacing the -at- with an @). I will send directions
later. Please write even if you’re unable to come on these dates or if Sundays don’t work for you. Depending on responses, we might chose a different day and time (including evenings).
Thank you.
